Introduction

This is a list of best torrent sites, so I don’t want to go into too much details with torrent in general. Just basics. In tech world, torrent usually refers to a torrent file (extension) that contains certain information, a key to initiating downloading of the actual content, like trackers which point to distributors (seeders) and clients (leechers). Torrent world relies on Peer-to-peer (P2P), a decentralized communcation model in which each party can function as both a client and server. Since P2P is mostly related to data sharing, they’re both frequently associated with software piracy and copyright violations. There were some attempts to control these with some bills like SOPA, PIPA and similar ones (TPP). That is an ongoing war.

Torrent Safety Usage

Apparently, in some “First & Second world” countries people get notices “of copyright infringement ” when downloading licensed content through torrent (music, movies,..), while others get tracked down and sued or arrested, so mind your steps. You can easily find details on your country, or find a list of countries in which you might have some problems. In order to avoid issues you can always rely on some VPN service to hide your traffic from ISP/Government. Short list of services out there, in no particular order:

In order to manipulate/manage torrent file, you need a torrent client, which basically implements torrent protocol. It is usually capable of preparing, requesting and transmitting any type of files over a p2p network.
